Clickworkers
video, 8'23", 2017

Seven fictitious portraits, seven evocations of women working behind the scenes. They “like,” “tag,” “troll” or do “opinion mining.” They are in Dakha, Krakow or North Carolina. The Clickworkers video brings attention to the multitudes of people who, all day long and for a ridiculous amount of money, perform the countless tiny tasks to make the internet more comfortable for us to use or to influence our outlook on the world. A single voice speaks the testimonies of these invisible women. The image shows one empty, neutral interior after another, like representations of these people’s absence.
